Former Halo boss is now in charge of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Digital Games

Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Digital Games have appointed Dan Ayoub as their new chief executive, a promotion from his position as senior vice president of digital games at Wizards. Ayoub will oversee a range of games, including Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, Duel Masters, and Hasbro Digital Games. He replaces John Hight, who left the role in July after just two years.

Ayoub's responsibilities will include two major projects: the sci-fi RPG Exodus and the D&D third-person action-adventure game Warlock. Ayoub, with a background at Halo studio 343 Industries and Certain Affinity, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and his commitment to the fans. However, he acknowledged that his arrival comes at a challenging time for the company, which has faced issues with game development delays.

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks, who is known for his interest in AI, may also present challenges, given his stance on AI's role in the gaming industry.
