FG warns colleges against substandard degree programmes

The Federal Government has cautioned Colleges of Education against offering substandard degree programs under the Dual Mandate policy, emphasizing the need for qualified lecturers, adequate facilities, and functional quality assurance systems. At a National Retreat/Workshop on the Effective Implementation of the Dual Mandate and Strategic Plan for Colleges of Education, Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, warned that the success of the policy would be measured by the quality of programs, accountability, and strict adherence to regulatory standards.

Ahmad urged college administrators to recognize the increased responsibilities brought by the Dual Mandate and ensure that lecturers receive continuous professional development, institutions have adequate instructional resources, and effective teaching supervision is in place.
