Apple unveiled its latest 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring the M6 chip, exclusively in 14-inch size. This new model promises enhanced performance, robust on-device AI capabilities, and swifter connectivity for students, professionals, and creators alike. The M6 chip boasts an impressive 12-core CPU, the fastest CPU core available, ensuring that both productivity tasks and resource-intensive workloads run smoothly and swiftly.
The 12-core GPU delivers up to 30% faster graphics and a 25% boost in AI workloads compared to its predecessor, the M5. For those transitioning from the M1 chip, the performance improvements are even more pronounced, with up to 11× faster graphics and a remarkable 13× acceleration in AI tasks.
The enhanced M6 chip in the 14-inch MacBook Pro has seen significant upgrades, including additional Neural Accelerators and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. This makes the MacBook Pro a formidable platform for AI applications, from utilizing Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features across various apps and macOS to running large language models (LLMs) locally while safeguarding user privacy.
Furthermore, the 14-inch MacBook Pro incorporates Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, alongside swift storage solutions that facilitate handling large files, project exports, and demanding AI workflows with ease.
The base model of the new MacBook Pro, priced at $2000, offers 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of SSD storage, and comes in Space gray or silver colors. Additional options for RAM include 24 GB (+200) and 32 GB (+400), while storage choices are 2 TB (+500) and 4 TB (+1500). The space black and silver color variants are available at an extra cost of $150.
