Anthropic has expanded its partnership with the General Services Administration (GSA) to provide federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments a 40% discount on Claude services. This discount will apply across all product offerings, including direct purchases and through cloud providers in the future. The discount extends to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments as well.

Approximately 500 US government entities currently utilize Claude, with weekly Claude for Government active users increasing eightfold since February. Usage among federal civilian agencies has grown 20-fold within a year. Government agencies require Claude for vital tasks such as managing backlogs, records, and forms, as well as modernizing outdated code.

The agreement between Anthropic and GSA is designed to support these agencies' work without imposing a minimum spend. Agencies will be charged only for the usage they consume. Claude for Government, which includes Claude's coding and agentic capabilities with near-feature parity to commercial offerings, received a FedRAMP High authorization on September 30. Claude Enterprise is undergoing FedRAMP Moderate authorization through the FedRAMP 20x program.

Government agencies can purchase Claude through GSA's Multiple Award Schedule. Whether an agency already uses Claude or is interested in doing so, Anthropic's Public Sector team is available to discuss options tailored to their needs.
