2027: Ex-gov Attah, PANDEF chiefs deny backing any candidate

The Pan Niger Delta Forum announced on Tuesday that it will not back any presidential candidate in the 2027 general election. The forum's National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, and ex-Akwa Ibom State Governor, Victor Attah, made the statement while discussing the organisation's stance with journalists following a meeting of PANDEF members.

Igali reiterated that PANDEF is a non-partisan organization and does not support any candidate or political party, urging voters to choose leaders based on their ability to address the needs of the Niger Delta region. PANDEF called on Niger Delta residents, including those in government positions, to prioritize the region's development when casting their votes, urging them to "shine their eyes" and vote according to their conscience.

This stance comes as political parties and candidates gear up for the 2027 general election, with the South-South region remaining a significant political force due to its oil and gas resources and its role in national revenue generation.
