Real Madrid secured a 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Clásico, marking the "best-earned win" of the 2026-27 season according to head coach José Mourinho. Kylian Mbappé put Real Madrid ahead in the 41st minute after a deflection off Gerard Martín's clearance, and he added a second goal in the 87th minute following a move involving Jude Bellingham.
Barcelona equalised with a goal from Raphinha in the second half, but Mbappé's second goal cut the deficit to three points. Mourinho emphasized that Madrid "won calmly and with full merit," stressing that the win was not due to luck. Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the season in LaLiga, ending their perfect start, and their second loss in all competitions after a recent Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappé's 100th goal for Real Madrid, scored in his 116th appearance, made him the fourth-fastest player to reach that milestone for the club. The coach, making his first Clásico appearance since returning to the Bernabéu, indicated that the focus now shifts to the league title race.
