Unai Simón, goalkeeper of the season

Unai Simón, the goalkeeper for Spain's World Cup-winning team, has been named the goalkeeper of the year. The Athletic Club goalkeeper received the prestigious award after showcasing exceptional defensive skills during the tournament. Simón not only won the World Cup Golden Glove but also set an impressive record of 649 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal, surpassing the previous record of 517 minutes set by Walter Zenga in 1990.

His composure, positioning, and ability with the ball at his feet were crucial in Spain's final victory over Argentina, which they secured with a 1-0 win. The award acknowledges Simón's historic performance on one of football's biggest stages, as the recognition was translated into English by Artificial Intelligence.
