UL Solutions expands Ho Chi Minh City testing facility

UL Solutions Inc., a global testing and inspection company, has opened an expanded laboratory facility in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The new facility consolidates testing services for manufacturers and retailers across Vietnam and Southeast Asia, addressing the growing need for localized compliance and safety evaluations.

The facility integrates testing for various product categories, including retail and consumer goods, electrical and electronic products, food contact materials, furniture, packaging, outdoor living products, power tools, and lawn and garden equipment. An important addition is UL Solutions' first controlled indoor environment in Vietnam, specifically designed to test outdoor-use products like gazebos, canopies, and outdoor furniture under simulated weather conditions.

The expansion comes as global supply chains diversify and manufacturers seek closer testing services to their production sites in Southeast Asia. Senior Vice President of Testing, Inspection and Certification, Consumer at UL Solutions, Upayan SenGupta, emphasized the importance of having trusted testing and compliance services in closer proximity to product development hubs.

The new laboratory's strategic location in Ho Chi Minh City provides easy access to manufacturing networks and transportation infrastructure that connects southern Vietnam to broader Southeast Asian markets.

In addition to offering testing for product safety, chemicals, indoor air quality, and environmental assessments, the expanded laboratory streamlines the testing process by eliminating the need to ship product samples over long distances.
