Trump adds Norway to vulgar list of countries, citing Nobel snub

At a political rally in Port Huron, Michigan, President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric against Norway, describing it as a "shit house country" and stating that Norwegian immigrants are unwelcome in the United States. Trump made these remarks ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, attributing recent unrest in France to immigration.

He indicated a willingness to accept immigrants from certain countries but specifically excluded Norway, citing his lack of a Nobel Peace Prize awarded by the Nobel Committee based in Oslo. Trump's comments did not suggest a shift in the administration's official policy on Norwegian immigrants. Norway, consistently ranked as one of the highest-income countries by GDP per capita, recently saw its sovereign wealth fund post a record profit of $184.3 billion.

Norway's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a representative for the Norwegian Nobel Committee did not respond to requests for comment. In a separate incident, Trump earlier this month described the failure to receive a Nobel Peace Prize as an "indelible stain" on Norway.
