Resolution in Balochistan assembly cannot abolish Sardari system, say tribal chiefs

Quetta - Tribal leaders have warned that a provincial assembly resolution to abolish the centuries-old Sardari and Nawabi systems in Balochistan is futile, insisting the traditional arrangement has facilitated peace and justice. Speaking at a press conference, tribal figures argued that tribal chiefs, through mutual decisions, have averted conflicts and saved lives.

They emphasized that the system's faults lie with individuals, not the system itself. Sardarzada Mir Ashraf Khan Satakzai, Sardar Muhammad Asim Sarparah, Syed Ali Muhammad Shah, and others insisted the government must prove the system's harmfulness before proposing its abolition. They urged those advocating changes to engage directly with tribal leaders and provided assurances of the government's responsibility to ensure security, peace, and accessible justice.
