Punjab to Digitize Education for Children With Disabilities

Punjab aims to digitize special education for children with disabilities, making classroom learning more accessible and providing improved educational opportunities. Director General of Special Education, Shoaib Khan Jadoon, briefed a Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) delegation about the initiative during a meeting. The focus of the plan is on integrating digital teaching tools and modern facilities into the curriculum.

The department intends to create classroom learning modules that align with international standards and convert textbooks into simpler digital formats, enabling children with disabilities to more readily access learning materials. Training will be provided to teachers and school staff to enhance their skills.

A state-of-the-art in-house studio for producing educational videos is also part of the proposal. Jadoon emphasized that technology would ensure equal educational opportunities for children with disabilities and stressed the importance of equipping them to meet modern-day requirements. To accomplish this, the department aims to introduce a more effective teaching system backed by digital resources.
