iPadOS 27.2 is now available, and places Siri AI front and center

Apple's iPadOS 27.2 update has arrived, introducing a new Siri AI function for text selection. This smaller release, while not as feature-rich as previous point updates, still offers noteworthy enhancements. When selecting text via trackpad or mouse, a contextual popup appears, prompting users to "Ask Siri." This feature mirrors the existing functionality on macOS, providing a streamlined alternative to the right-click menu.

In addition to the Siri integration, iPadOS 27.2 also reintroduces Writing Tools commands such as "rewrite" and "proofread" following text selection. Furthermore, the Apple TV app now supports user profiles on iPad, preventing family members from inadvertently altering the viewing experience of others. While not a full multi-user system, this feature offers a more controlled sharing option.

Siri AI is expanding its language capabilities, now available in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. This multilingual support broadens Siri's accessibility to a wider user base.

Apple has also integrated anniversary reminders into the calling context during incoming calls. Users in the EU will encounter App Tracking Transparency prompts once annually.

The redesigned Apple Health app, featuring Apple Intelligence features, was briefly accessible during the beta stages of iPadOS 27.2 but was subsequently removed before the release candidate and is anticipated to return in iPadOS 27.3.
