Former US Open winner McDowell confirms LIV exit
Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell becomes the latest major champion to exit LIV Golf.
Northern Ireland's former golfing champion Graeme McDowell has announced his exit from LIV Golf, joining a growing list of major winners to leave the breakaway tour. McDowell, 47, revealed he will not be participating in LIV 2.0, the successor tour set to commence in 2027. The 2010 US Open victor expressed gratitude for his time on LIV, where he achieved his best finish yet - a tie for second in Virginia in June 2025.
Despite securing a potential $300 million financing deal for LIV 2.0 from BC Partners Credit, only a limited number of players have committed to the new iteration. Other prominent golfers, including Jon Rahm, Louis Oosthuizen, Tom McKibbin, Tyrrell Hatton, and Ian Poulter, have also confirmed their departures from the league.
