Apple releases iOS 27.2, with Siri AI enhancements for recalling past conversations, understanding more personal context, supporting five new languages, more (Juli Clover/MacRumors)

Apple has launched watchOS 27.2, the inaugural significant upgrade to the watchOS 27 operating system. To access the update, users must navigate to the Settings app on their wrist-worn device or the Apple Watch app on a paired iPhone. Installation is only possible when the Apple Watch is tethered to a power source and boasts over 50 percent battery life. According to Apple's release notes, watchOS 27.2 introduces advanced Siri AI capabilities and expands Siri AI's support to new languages.

This update bolsters Siri AI in several ways. It enables the system to retain pertinent context from previous Siri interactions, tapping into a broader range of personal context. Moreover, Siri AI now provides quicker responses directly on the watch. In addition to these enhancements, watchOS 27.2 incorporates other features, bug fixes, and security updates for the Apple Watch ecosystem.

Some of the new Siri AI features include the ability to recall past conversations. This means users can inquire about matters Siri previously mentioned, such as restaurant recommendations shared last week. Furthermore, Siri AI can draw from additional sources to generate accurate answers. These sources encompass photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees, voicemails, and improved results from Safari history and Reading List from the paired iPhone.

Excluded Apps functionality allows users to select which apps Siri, Search, and suggestions can access, all from a single setting on their phone. Siri AI now delivers faster responses on the Apple Watch. Importantly, Siri AI is now available in more languages, supporting French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. However, it's worth noting that Siri AI is not accessible in the EU or mainland China.
