US midterm elections: Obama slams Trump over Iran war, White House renovation, 'Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory'
Barack Obama attacked Donald Trump over White House renovations, high prices and the Iran war at rallies in Ohio and Michigan. Campaigning for Democrats ahead of the November 3 midterms, he accused the administration of corruption, cruelty and incompetence.
As the US midterm elections approach, former President Barack Obama has criticized President Donald Trump's renovation of the White House, comparing it to "Saddam Hussein opening a Cheesecake Factory." Obama made these remarks at a rally in Cleveland, Ohio, where he also questioned Trump's focus on home renovations, expressing concern over his plans for a larger ballroom, a paved-over Rose Garden, and a helicopter pad on the South Lawn.
The rally was Obama's first ahead of the midterms, where he supported candidates Sherrod Brown and Amy Acton in Ohio's Senate and gubernatorial races, respectively. Obama criticized the Trump administration's Iran war, high consumer prices, and corruption, accusing the administration of incompetence and cruelty. He blamed President Trump for the current economic situation, stating that prices have only increased since he took office.
Obama also targeted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, questioning his focus on appearances rather than important matters. The former president's sharp criticism of Trump and the Republicans comes at a critical time, as the US President faces consequences from the Iran war and soaring gas prices ahead of the midterm elections.
