Ternus shuffles more Apple roles as long-time executives look to retire

Apple is making several internal staffing changes as executives prepare to retire, according to a new report. The company is promoting from within to ensure a smooth transition, rather than leaving employees in limbo. Two key figures, Wei Chen and John Zhong, who have been involved in Apple's display technology for over thirty years, are stepping down from their leadership positions and becoming advisors instead.

They have already begun mentoring Victor Yin, who will eventually take over some of their roles. In addition to these internal changes, Apple has also made separate promotions of people working in internet connectivity. Rajesh Ambati, Louie Sanguinetti, and Derek Shaeffer have all been promoted to vice president status. Sanguinetti, an Apple veteran, is known for his work in wireless hardware, while Ambati and Shaeffer have experience in both hardware and software used for communications and connecting devices.

These promotions, along with the internal changes, are part of Apple's annual series of staff shifts, which took place shortly after John Ternus became CEO in September. Additionally, Steve Smith was promoted from an assistant role to lead Apple's mergers team following the retirement of his predecessor.
