Simhastha 2028: Senior IPS Officer Seeks Transfer Of Kshipra River's Origin To Forest Department, Calls For Removal Of Encroachments

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: Simhastha preparations have prompted Special DG (rail) Rajababu Singh to recommend transferring the origin of the Kshipra River to the Forest Department. During his visit to Ujjaini village, the river's source, Singh inspected the river system and proposed several measures to restore the Kshipra as a perennial river.

He emphasized the need to remove encroachments from both banks and undertake extensive plantation. Singh also expressed concern over the encroachments, noting that within the first 15 kilometers of the river's course, farmlands, hotels, and resorts have been constructed, severely impacting the river's catchment area. To ensure proper management, Singh suggested transferring the revenue land from Ujjaini village in Indore district to the Forest Department.

He proposed creating a buffer zone along both sides of the 214-kilometer-long Kshipra River, ideally 5 kilometers wide, but at least 2 kilometers wide. Singh pointed out that the water from the Narmada is currently being diverted into the Kshipra via the Silisia Dam, and devotees are bathing in this water. For Lord Mahakal's abhishek to be performed using the original Kshipra water, the river must be rejuvenated in accordance with Sanatan tradition.
