Police seek dashcam footage, urge witnesses to come forward after crash involving Bernama, NST journalists

IPOH, Oct 25 — Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin is calling on the public for assistance in their investigation of a recent accident involving a car carrying two journalists and a lorry. The incident occurred this morning around 5:45 am on Jalan Ipoh-Lumut, near the Taman Kledang Permai traffic light junction. Mohd Alwi urges anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward and provide information, particularly those with dashcam footage of the incident.

The car, a Perodua Bezza carrying the two journalists, was traveling from Meru towards Bagan Datuk when it was struck from behind by a lorry on the same route. The collision caused the car to spin on the road, while the lorry veered off and ended up in a roadside drain. Three victims were taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment.

Two journalists, Nur Afiradina Arshad (34) from Bernama and Zahratulhayat Mat Arif (37) from the New Straits Times, sustained injuries and are being treated at the hospital. Mohd Alwi emphasizes that police received the report of the incident at 8:38 am and that further investigations into the incident are currently underway.
