London 'Palestine House' places life-size statue of Marwan Barghouti on roof next to Palestine flag
Camden Council is investigating whether the statue was installed legally following a complaint filed by the pro-Israel British legal organization UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI).
A life-size bronze statue of Marwan Barghouti, a former senior Fatah official serving multiple life sentences in Israel, has been placed on the roof of Palestine House in central London. The building, which serves as a cultural and community center for Palestinians, is located in the Camden borough. Camden Council is investigating the legality of the statue's installation, as well as whether proper planning permission was obtained.
The statue depicts Barghouti with his handcuffed hands raised in a V for victory gesture, similar to a famous photograph from his arrest.
