Australia is trailing New Zealand 2-0 in the Constellation Cup on home soil in Sydney. Team captain Stacey Marinkovich spoke to media on Friday and emphasized the importance of starting matches well. The Diamonds have been heavily penalised throughout the series, while New Zealand has only 100 penalties. Marinkovich feels the Diamonds are umpired differently on home soil.
With two players out due to injuries, Australia's depth and confidence have been affected. Head coach Noeline Taurua made a single change for game three, with Kimiora Poi replacing Peta Toeava in the starting lineup. The Diamonds are hoping to end the series on home soil and potentially impact the world rankings, as a 4-0 win would see them dethrone New Zealand as world number one for the first time in history.
