IGP orders immediate CID probe into Noorizwan’s death in custody

KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyers for Liberty director Rania Aljunied has called for a murder investigation into the death of 42-year-old Noorizwan Zulkefly in police custody. She claims the police's statement that no internal organ injuries were found is false and contradicts the findings of the post-mortem performed by a pathologist. The pathologist identified extensive bleeding in Noorizwan's brain and intestines, concluding the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Rania argues the police were aware of these injuries but still claimed otherwise, stating the police's cause of death claim is misleading to the public. She questions why Bukit Aman is delaying the investigation and denying the family a murder probe under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
