Forza Might Actually Lose at The Game Awards for the First Time in a Decade
Forza Horizon 6 faces a stiff challenge in the Sports/Racing category from Star Wars: Galactic Racer
The Game Awards, known for its predictable Best Sports/Racing Game category, might see an unexpected upset this year. Traditionally, Forza Horizon 6 is the frontrunner, but this time, Star Wars: Galactic Racer could be the one to beat the odds. Despite Forza's dominance in the category, including a stellar Metacritic score of 90 and widespread popularity, Galactic Racer presents a compelling alternative.
The latter's innovative gameplay, rooted in nostalgic arcade racing series like Burnout and Wipeout, coupled with a captivating story, could sway the decision-makers. Additionally, the Star Wars license adds an extra allure, potentially attracting jurors who might not typically engage with this category. While the odds are against it, the possibility of Forza losing its long-standing lead is a sign of progress and creative evolution within the racing games genre.
