CP NewsAlert: BC Green Leader Emily Lowan wins bid for riding on Vancouver Island
Brentwood Bay - Canadian Press decision desk forecasts BC Greens Leader Emily Lowan will win the Saanich North and the Islands riding on Vancouver Island.
Emily Lowan assumed leadership of the provincial Greens in September 2025, replacing Sonia Furstenau. At 26 years old, she is among the youngest leaders of a major political party in Canada.
Lowan will succeed Rob Botterell, who represented the riding from 2024 until deciding not to run again. Botterell had held the seat since 2017.
Brentwood Bay has been a Green stronghold since 2017, when it was held by Adam Olsen. Lowan's predecessor took office following Botterell's election in 2024.
