Claude's API now allows resellers to ban individual customers instead of entire organizations. To implement this feature, users must create a profile for each end customer using the POST /v1/user_profiles endpoint. This profile ID is then sent in the anthropic-user-profile-id header on every request made for that customer. Anthropic's webhook for notifying when a customer is banned is currently not operational.
Profiles are not billable and do not affect pricing. Each profile can have an enforcement_status of unrestricted, restricted, or banned. When a profile is restricted or banned, the API will refuse some or all inference requests made with that profile's ID.
