Aubrey Suwito jadi figura utama OSK selepas 30 tahun di belakang tabir

Aubrey Suwito, a 60-year-old composer, has been honored as a prominent figure in the National Symphony Orchestra (OSK) after over three decades of producing popular music for local singers. On October 2nd and 3rd at the Istana Budaya's Panggung Sari stage, 16 of his compositions, including "Gemilang," "Seribu Impian," "Memori Tercipta," "Gemuruh," and "Lebih Indah," were performed in a symphonic arrangement.

Initially skeptical about the selection, Aubrey now considers it a recognition not only for himself but also for the composers and creative forces who have worked behind the scenes. He expressed pride in being recognized alongside the performers on stage and the creators who have contributed to the industry without much attention.

Creating the symphonic arrangement for the concert took nearly three months, with each song requiring four to six hours of work. Aubrey, who has collaborated with Siti Nurhaliza, David Foster, and Brian McKnight and is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, is also interested in exploring traditional music.

During the concert, Shiha Zikir introduced his debut song, "Jodoh," which was performed for the first time by the audience. Aubrey hopes that music pop, symphony, and traditional genres will no longer be seen separately but will develop into a harmonious musical landscape.

Mohd Fairuz Tauhid, the conductor of the performance, revealed that the concert allowed him to get to know a different side of Aubrey, who is known primarily for his creative works. He emphasized the challenge was not creating a symphony but finding the right balance between popular music close to the audience and the orchestra often perceived as exclusive. Aubrey, for the first time, worked closely with OSK during this performance.
