At least 12 injured in Tallahassee shooting near Florida university

A late-night shooting near Florida A&M University stadium in Tallahassee resulted in 11 individuals suffering gunshot wounds, with six adults and six juveniles among the injured, authorities reported on Saturday. The incident unfolded at Perry Street, the university disclosed, as police counted the number of victims. At least three of the wounded sustained serious injuries, while nine others are in stable condition, according to a statement from Tallahassee police.

Initial findings indicated that a physical altercation had preceded the shooting, though police did not provide further details. Police Chief Lawrence Revell expressed deep concern over the presence of children among the injured, revealing that the youngest victim was just 11 years old. The altercation reportedly originated at a homecoming party, escalating to gunfire and a fight between two or three individuals, leading to shots being fired just before 8:00 p.m. The Tallahassee police violent crimes unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
