‘Adakah DAP tanding solo jika PH kerjasama Bersatu’, soal pemimpin MCA

Two senior MCA leaders have urged DAP not to become a source of contention when resolving the seat distribution issue in the PRN Melaka by-election. Chong Sin Woon, the MCA Deputy Chairman, emphasized that the Barisan Nasional (BN) has its own mechanisms to address the issue, while Mike Chong Yew Chuan, MCA Deputy Youth Chief, stressed that MCA does not need DAP to teach it about its political principles or determine its political direction.

DAP's Melaka chief firmly stated there would be no cooperation with Bersatu, but the current situation is embarrassing. DAP Melaka claimed that former party chairman Damian Yeo had boycotted PH's campaign for Melaka PRN on November 14, following rumors of a possible agreement on seat distribution with Bersatu. PH Melaka affirmed it would contest the upcoming PRN independently, but speculation about potential alignment with Bersatu persists.

Meanwhile, Kampar MP Chong Zhemin challenged MCA to leave BN entirely, while DAP Deputy Youth Leader Lim Chun Weng questioned whether MCA should contest the Melaka PRN under its own logo. This escalation comes after MCA's drastic move to withdraw from BN's candidate nomination ceremony for Melaka PRN the night before. While DAP battles MCA over leaving BN or contesting with its own logo, the question remains whether DAP would take similar action if PH were to cooperate with Bersatu or another party.

Mike questioned whether DAP would take such steps if PH were to cooperate with other parties, including Bersatu. Do not be too embarrassed to discuss the domestic affairs of others when internal disagreements within your own party remain unresolved, he said. Mike added that MCA's leadership decision to leave the candidate nomination ceremony for BN is a clear message that decisions regarding a seat attribution cannot be made unilaterally without consulting and agreeing with senior MCA leaders.

However, he emphasized, differences of opinion within BN need to be resolved through internal channels and mechanisms, while maintaining the spirit of unity that can be undermined if party decisions are made without collective agreement. MCA has its own principles and agenda, and the spirit of BN's struggle will crumble if such matters are left unaddressed.
