Thunderstorms and strong winds expected along coast: Qatar weather

Doha's meteorological department has issued a weather warning for Saturday, predicting thunderstorms and strong winds along the coast. The day will start hot with lingering dust, transitioning to relatively hot temperatures throughout the afternoon.

Clouds will develop locally, increasing the chance of rain and thunderstorms in some coastal areas around noon. Offshore, skies will be partly cloudy at times.

Winds along the coast will initially be variable but will shift to north-westerly to north-easterly direction, reaching sustained speeds of 5 to 15 knots. During thunderstorms, gusts could reach up to 25 knots. At sea, north-westerly winds will be stronger, blowing at 10 to 18 knots with gusts up to 27 knots during the afternoon.

Wave heights along the coast will range from two to four feet, peaking at five feet in the afternoon. Offshore, waves will range from three to five feet, increasing to eight feet. Visibility will be limited along the coast to four to nine kilometers, potentially dropping to three kilometers or less in areas with thunderstorms. Visibility offshore will stay between five and nine kilometers.

The maximum temperature in Doha is expected to hit 37C during the day. The meteorological department has also released tide times for various locations across the country. In Doha, high tide will occur at 09:23, followed by low tide at 14:28. Other coastal towns like Dukhan, Mesaieed, Al Wakrah, Al Khor, Al Ruwais, and Abu Samra will experience their respective high and low tides throughout the day.
