Thousands rally for Lula and Bolsonaro on eve of tight Brazil vote
Tens of thousands of supporters flooded the streets as the incumbent and his rival wrap up a bitter campaign that has left Latin America's biggest nation more polarised than ever.
Brazil's presidential race saw tens of thousands rally for incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and his right-wing rival Flavio Bolsonaro on the eve of the tight election on Sunday. The two politicians, whose campaigns have left the nation more polarized than ever, made their final pitches to voters across the country. Lula, who turns 81 next week, urged supporters to choose between a candidate who kisses the national flag or one who kisses the American flag.
Polls showed the candidates tied at 50% each, with Bolsonaro's son Jair Bolsonaro leading in the first round with 47% of the vote. Lula's Workers' Party (PT) is hoping to secure a fourth, nonconsecutive term, as the leftist leader represents the voice of Brazil's most humble citizens.
