Sahara Group Foudation deepens sustainable waste management with new Go-Recycling Hub at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base

The Sahara Group Foundation, acting as the social impact arm of Sahara Group, has inaugurated its 23rd Sahara Go Recycling Hub at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Lagos. This move underscores their dedication to environmental stewardship, empowering communities, and fostering inclusive economic growth. The hub aims to turn recyclable waste from an environmental burden into a source of income for households via waste-to-wealth initiatives.

It also reinforces sustainable waste recovery systems and uplifts host communities throughout Nigeria. Chidilim Menakaya, Director of the Sahara Group Foundation, emphasized the Foundation's ongoing investment in community-driven, impactful solutions that yield enduring environmental and societal advantages. The initiative aligns with their sustainability and development goals by converting waste into valuable resources, mitigating environmental damage, advancing climate action, and generating livelihood prospects.

This initiative reinforces the importance of collective efforts in tackling waste management issues in rapidly expanding areas. Representatives from Ikeja Electric, the local Commandant, and other local stakeholders joined the event, underscoring the significance of collaboration in delivering sustainable solutions. Since its launch, Sahara Go Recycling has processed over 1,000 tonnes of recyclable waste and directly or indirectly supported over 2,000 livelihoods in various recycling-related activities.

The Foundation intends to expand Sahara Go Recycling in line with their mission to cultivate sustainable communities through EXTRApreneurship. For additional information, visit www.saharagroupfoundation.org.
