Menteri Pendidikan Fadhlina Sidek stated that individuals born between 2010 and 2024 acquire language knowledge not only through textbooks and classrooms, but also through video, digital games, animation, music, streaming content, and online interaction. Addressing the Malaysia National Launchpad of Language Month 2026 at Padang Lama Stadium today, Fadhlina emphasized the need to enhance the Malay language within the digital realm by producing creative and knowledgeable content to attract the interest of the young generation, particularly Generation Alpha.
The minister highlighted that the government is committed to advancing digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the 2027 National Budget, with a focus on equipping ministries, agencies, and educational institutions with accurate and annotated digital language data from the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia (DBP).
Fadhlina noted that collaboration between the Ministry of Education (KPM) and DBP has resulted in the creation of 259 Young Malay Ambassadors through the Young Malay Ambassador Program, along with the establishment of 1,924 Young Malay Scholars and 970 Young Malay Leaders across the country. The minister also stressed the importance of preserving the Jawi script as a valuable resource of Malay history, ideas, and culture, which requires joint efforts from schools, parents, educational institutions, and DBP.
To strengthen efforts in promoting the national language, Fadhlina announced that KPM will provide a budget of RM10,000 to each agency, higher education institution (IPT), Institute of Teachers (IPG), and non-governmental organization (NGO) implementing national language preservation programs in 2027.
