Monarchy provides stability above political differences, says Selangor Sultan

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — Despite societal changes, the role of a constitutional monarch remains constant, according to Selangor Sultan Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. The Ruler's duty is to uphold the Constitution, maintain continuity and serve as a symbol of unity, transcending political disagreements.

Sultan Sharafuddin emphasized the monarchy's stability during periods of transformation, highlighting how enduring institutions contribute to national harmony. He clarified that his responsibility is to serve all people of Selangor impartially, without favor or bias.

The Sultan noted that respect for constitutional principles, impartiality, and fairness fosters the monarchy's trustworthiness among citizens of all backgrounds and political beliefs. He stressed that the monarchy symbolizes continuity, stability, service, and responsibility, reminding us that true leadership entails obligations, not privileges.

Sultan Sharafuddin affirmed that these values remain pertinent as societies benefit from institutions that promote moderation, unity, and respect for the rule of law.
