Malaysia stands ready to assist Yemen, backs renewed negotiations

Seremban, October 24 — Malaysia is prepared to provide humanitarian aid to Yemen, calling on all parties involved in the ongoing conflict to resume negotiations and find a peaceful resolution. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan expressed the country's empathy for the Yemeni people who are enduring the consequences of the drawn-out civil war, including famine and difficulties in accessing essential supplies.

The issue was raised by his Yemeni counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr Afrah Abdulaziz Al-Zouba, during a telephone conversation on Thursday. Mohamad stated that Malaysia is prepared to contribute to any relief missions or extend assistance to those in need, to the best of their capabilities. He emphasized that the conflict poses no advantage to the 22 million affected residents and instead perpetuates ongoing hardship.

Consequently, he urged international actors to assume a constructive role by returning to the negotiating table, aiming to bring peace and prosperity to the Yemeni population. Mohamad stressed that diplomatic efforts should take precedence to prevent the conflict from persisting and endangering regional stability.
