The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has initiated a province-wide enforcement against establishments selling subpar meat, fruits, vegetables, and other edibles in response to Governor Faisal Karim Kundi's orders. Under the leadership of Director General Kashif Iqbal Jillani, officials conducted unannounced checks on abattoirs, meat shops, milk shops, and other food vendors along Charsadda Road, Dalazak Road, and in Faqirabad, Peshawar.
A milk shop received a caution notice for failing to meet hygiene standards. Jillani also toured a slaughterhouse on Charsadda Road, where he assessed the current practices and ordered staff to enhance sanitation and adhere to food safety protocols. He mandated provincial food safety teams to ramp up inspections and impose stringent legal consequences on enterprises selling substandard food.
He emphasized that no concessions would be granted regarding food quality or public well-being, and offenders would be held accountable regardless of their status. The director general further directed officials to bolster surveillance and guarantee that food safety and hygiene standards are upheld throughout the production, storage, transportation, and sale of food items.
Deputy Director Peshawar Division Zeeshan Mehsud and Operations Director Muhammad Yousaf were present during the inspection.
