Perdana Menteri Anwar Ibrahim inaugurated the National Living Cost Action Plan 2030 (NCLAP30) today, outlining 429 initiatives across 35 strategies to tackle rising living costs and enhance citizens' well-being. The five-year plan, consisting of eight strategic clusters, serves as the national framework for executing various initiatives related to living costs across ministries and agencies via a nationwide approach.
The clusters include finance, food, health, education, transportation, housing, utilities, and public services, with involvement from the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the public.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Living Cost Armizan Ali stated that the plan prioritizes increasing citizens' income and stabilizing the prices of essential goods and services. The plan will continue and expand existing initiatives, such as fiscal commitments, as well as introduce new initiatives to address living cost issues. Armizan Ali emphasized that the plan is dynamic, aiming to ensure its relevance and adaptability in addressing domestic challenges, geopolitical instability, and global economic uncertainties.
NCLAP30 aligns with the country's core objectives, such as the MADANI Economic Framework and Malaysia 13 Roadmap. The National Living Cost Action Committee (NACCOL) has been given a broader mandate to oversee the implementation of all living cost initiatives across ministries and government agencies. Armizan Ali noted that while NACCOL's previous role focused on researching and considering new initiatives and living cost issues, it now also involves comprehensive monitoring of the execution of the outlined initiatives.
"Our goal is to ensure that all 429 living cost initiatives are executed effectively, consistently, and without contradictions to achieve optimal success," he stated.
He added that the success of the plan also requires cooperation from the private sector, NGOs, and the public to ensure that the benefits of each initiative are felt by the nation as a whole. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Hang Jebat Sports Complex, Krubong, and was attended by Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Living Cost Fuziah Salleh.
