Former England stars Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have cautioned Cesc Fabregas, the current manager of Como, against taking on the head coaching role at Manchester United. The duo, appearing on The Rest is Football, expressed their concerns as Como recently secured a 4-1 victory over United in the Champions League.
Lineker referred to Old Trafford as "a graveyard" and described the offer as "madness." He emphasized that despite Fabregas' impressive performance at Como, the current state of Manchester United is far from appealing. The team has only managed one win in their last seven Premier League matches and two victories across all competitions, placing them in 13th position with no wins in their last six games.
Shearer agreed, stating that if Fabregas were to accept the Manchester United position, it would be a grave mistake. Despite acknowledging Fabregas' positive attitude and balanced demeanor, the former manager cautioned against taking up the job. Lineker warned that if successful, Fabregas could face pressure from other top clubs, potentially including Manchester United. However, he strongly advised against accepting the offer, emphasizing that it would be "a graveyard."
