Dave Doeren replacements: Ranking NC State's best candidates from Charles Huff to Philip Rivers
The Wolfpack fired its longtime head coach on Saturday. Here are some names to watch as they search for a replacement.
NC State's coaching search to replace Dave Doeren has potential candidates from various backgrounds. Charles Huff, the current head coach at Memphis, comes with a strong coaching pedigree, having led his teams to a combined 39 wins over four seasons. Shannon Dawson, Miami's offensive coordinator, has been instrumental in developing talented quarterbacks, but lacks head coaching experience.
Appalachian State's coach, Dowell Loggains, has led his team to a 5-2 start this season, while James Madison's coach, Billy Napier, has had success at multiple universities. A familiar face in the coaching search is Philip Rivers, a former NC State quarterback, who could garner significant fan support due to his local connection and impressive track record at his high school.
