DAP gesa Warisan akui peranan dalam kelewatan projek Pan Borneo

DAP's Warisan leader, Shafie Apdal, has admitted his involvement in the delay of the Pan Borneo Highway project by canceling a subcontractor's contract in Sabah. Shafie, who was the Chief Minister of Sabah from 2018 to 2020, acknowledged during a speech in the Dewan Rakyat on October 19 that he had endorsed the revocation of the project management model (PDP) while he was the Chief Minister in 2019.

He notified the Malaysian Parliament about this on the same day, with the Deputy President of Warisan, Darell Leiking, unable to deny that this incident had occurred. Thien Ee Hang, a Publicity Secretary of DAP Sabah, criticized Leiking for selectively presenting the cancellation of the PDP model. Warisan now needs to openly explain its stance, and the party cannot simply point fingers at others when problems arise and the public starts questioning the responsible party, Thien emphasized.

This comes after Leiking raised concerns about Warisan being blamed for the revocation of the PDP model for the Pan Borneo Highway, while Lim announced the decision. Leiking claimed that the decision was not made solely by the Sabah state government led by Shafie but also involved the federal government led by Pakatan Harapan. The National Audit Office report released earlier this month revealed that only four out of 35 project packages, or 11.4%, had been completed as of March 31.

The report stated that the remaining 31 packages were still under construction. Critics accused the PDP revocation of causing significant delays in the highway project, but Shafie denied that he canceled any contractor's contract related to the project.
