Anwar hubungi KPN mahu siasatan kematian Noorizwan telus, menyeluruh

Perdana Menteri Anwar Ibrahim contacted the Inspector General of Police, Khalid Ismail, to obtain more information regarding the death of Noorizwan Zulkefly during detention this month. Anwar emphasized the need for a thorough, comprehensive, and uncompromising investigation into Noorizwan's death. He also confirmed that his office was informed about the family's presence to deliver a petition on their behalf today.

Anwar expressed his deep sorrow for Noorizwan's passing and his understanding of the family's grief and anguish while they await answers. He was scheduled to attend various events in Melaka today and delegated his officials to receive the petition and listen to the issues raised by the family. Earlier, Noorizwan's family along with their lawyer visited the Prime Minister's residence to hand over a memorandum and urge government intervention concerning the death of the detainee who was held at IPD Cheras for 11 days without informing his family before being transferred to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM on September 30.

Noorizwan was pronounced dead on October 1. The family rejected the claim by the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief that the arrest and detention were carried out in accordance with SOPs. On October 12, a forensic pathologist at the same hospital reported to the family and their lawyers that Noorizwan's death was caused by head trauma. Today, Bukit Aman announced that the post-mortem examination indicated no internal injuries, but there were some external injuries.

"The cause of death has been stated as pending further laboratory analysis," said Aida Abdul Hamid, the Director of the Department of Integrity and Accountability Standards, in a statement.
