Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has observed resemblances between Chelsea's new goalkeeper Mike Penders and former Chelsea and Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois. The 21-year-old Penders assumed the role of Chelsea's first-choice goalkeeper after Emi Martinez's injury during a recent match against Everton. Penders, widely regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers, spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid before returning to Chelsea.
Similar to Courtois, Penders is left-footed and known for his aerial dominance. Alonso, who previously managed Courtois at Real Madrid, believes Penders has the potential to succeed Martinez. Alonso is confident that Penders will recover from Martinez's injury within a few weeks.
