October brings a spate of horror films to Prime Video, making it a perfect time for fans to dive into the genre. Among the best options are "The Mist," a Stephen King adaptation that tells the tale of a small town forced to shelter in a grocery store as monsters emerge from a creepy fog. The film's ending is particularly impactful, leaving viewers both horrified and unable to look away.
Another must-watch is "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," a brutal film inspired by real-life serial killer Ed Gein. Director Tobe Hooper's creation features a terrifying villain named Leatherface, whose victims' bodies are transformed into grotesque masks. The movie delivers a raw and unforgiving experience, perfect for fans seeking a genuine fright.
Of course, no Halloween-themed horror watchlist would be complete without "Halloween," the iconic film that kickstarted a decade-long franchise. Michael Myers' relentless pursuit of Laurie Strode and other victims has made this movie a Halloween staple, and even the lesser entries in the series offer thrilling moments of suspense and terror. With Kurt Russell's iconic portrayal of the shapeless creature in "The Thing," John Carpenter's work continues to impress, cementing its place as a horror classic.
