5 streaming boxes you should buy instead of the new Apple TV 4K
You don't need to spend $299 to stream Netflix.
In recent months, soaring memory and chip prices have caused hardware prices to rise. Apple raised the price of its streaming box, but the new Apple TV 4K 2026 launched with an even higher price of $299. This puts it at par with the Nvidia Shield TV Pro after its recent price increase. Compared to the previous Apple TV 4K, which started at a more affordable $129, the new model is considerably pricier.
Rumors suggested Apple might release a cheaper variant soon, but it did not happen. At $300, the new Apple TV is an expensive choice for streaming services like Netflix. With TVs now available for similar prices, there are better alternatives to be found outside Apple's ecosystem.
