XBiotech appoints Jan-Paul Simard as co-CEO

Austin, Texas - XBiotech Inc., a biosciences company, has appointed Jan-Paul Simard as Co-CEO alongside Dr. Sushma Shivaswamy, effective immediately. Dr. Shivaswamy, who has been with the company for 17 years, took on the role of interim CEO in December 2025 after the retirement of founder John Simard. Simard, who joined XBiotech in 2012 as an R&D assistant, has since held various roles including clinical development.

He holds a Chemistry degree with Honours from the University of Saskatchewan. XBiotech is dedicated to discovering, developing and commercializing therapeutic antibodies, focusing on oncology, inflammatory conditions and infectious diseases. The co-CEOs' complementary skills and shared commitment to the company's mission are expected to help XBiotech realize the potential of their True-Human antibody therapies.
