Typhoon Champi, or Typhoon No. 30, categorized as large and strong, was approaching the Sakishima Islands, consisting of Miyako and Yaeyama Islands, in Okinawa Prefecture, as of 10 a.m. on Friday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
