This weird new compact camera is a transparent viewfinder digicam that also has a screen – and I want one

Escura unveiled the InstantSnap.novo, an upgraded iteration of its 2025 toy compact camera, featuring a transparent viewfinder and an integrated LCD screen. The camera received attention earlier this year when Godox released a similarly designed model, the C100. In response, Escura has enhanced their design, maintaining the translucent window with framing lines, settings, and framing information, but now includes a 1.3-inch LCD monitor for improved composition and playback.

While the transparent viewfinder concept might seem unusual, it proved impractical in practice, as it failed to accurately correspond to the final image when not held close to one's eye. To address this, Escura introduced the new InstantSnap.novo, featuring five built-in colour filters and a "35mm Film Frame" effect. The camera also offers interchangeable viewfinders, including traditional, golden ratio, grid, and selfie aids.

Despite its unique design, the InstantSnap.novo retains its compact size and affordable price, weighing just 38g and measuring 106 x 60 x 16 mm. Priced at $52 (approximately £39), the camera is available for pre-order in two colors: standard white and crystal mint.
