The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Nigeria has discovered a residential building in Lagos where bottles of alcoholic beverages were stored for potential use in producing counterfeit drinks. The investigation by NAFDAC's Investigation and Enforcement Directorate revealed over 100 sacks of empty bottles at the location, which is situated at 322B Meiran Road, Agbado Oke-Odo, Lagos.
Assistant Director Kunle Ojo stated that the operation followed credible intelligence about activities at the address. The building was found in a secluded residential area, with various materials stored there. Ojo explained that the discovered bottles included different sizes, brands, and labels of alcoholic beverages, which were suspected to be intended for distribution to counterfeiters.
The agency destroyed the bottles to prevent their reuse in the production of counterfeit alcoholic beverages. NAFDAC urged Nigerians to report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to help combat the production and distribution of counterfeit products.
