Gasps as Prince William makes surprise appearance on Graham Norton Show

The Prince of Wales, Prince William, unexpectedly appeared on the Graham Norton Show, part of a special edition celebrating the Earthshot Prize. The episode, set to air on Friday, featured Cate Blanchett, Robert Irwin, and Hannah Waddingham, all connected to the prize.

During the discussion, Norton invited the prince to join them on the sofa, catching the audience off guard. The guests conversed about the importance of balancing optimism and urgency in addressing climate change. William established the Earthshot Prize in 2020, drawing inspiration from President Kennedy's Moonshot initiative, aiming to promote solutions that restore our planet.

The prize offers five goals, each with a £1 million award: protecting and restoring nature, cleaning the air, reviving oceans, building a waste-free world, and fixing climate issues. Each winner receives a significant prize. Prince William pledged his commitment to the prize until 2030.

The annual Earthshot Prize ceremony, where winners are announced, has attracted notable attendees in the past. Last year, it drew figures like Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and pop stars Kylie Minogue and Shawn Mendes. In 2025, the winners will include Lagos Fashion Week for their efforts to make the fashion industry more sustainable.
