Why AAC asked to use Aso Rock for campaign event — Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, requested the Presidential Villa in Abuja for his party's campaign council inauguration. Sowore argued that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had held political events at the venue, and his party wanted to enjoy the same opportunity. He said, "We asked to use Aso Rock because the APC uses Aso Rock to do political party events.

So we are saying, as a matter of right, since Aso Rock is our own, other political parties must be granted the opportunity to use Aso Rock the way APC uses Aso Rock." The AAC also requested logistical support for the event, scheduled for November 11, 2026. The party's request was based on principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties.

The proposal faced criticism from the APC National Secretary, who accused Sowore's party of lacking electoral strength and dismissed a proposed opposition coalition.
