Police nab teenager in Anambra over stolen phone

Police have apprehended a 19-year-old suspect in Anambra State over the alleged theft of an Infinix Android phone in Adamawa State. The suspect, Mustapha Sani, was arrested on October 19, 2026, by the State Intelligence Department in Awka following intelligence-led operations. The Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that preliminary findings suggested the suspect had stolen mobile phones from unsuspecting victims in Adamawa before fleeing to Anambra.

The recovered phone is currently under investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the alleged offence. The police have initiated further investigations to determine the suspect's involvement and return the recovered phone to its rightful owner.
