‘Halloweentown 5’ in Development at Disney

Disney is in early development on a fifth installment of the Halloweentown film series for Disney Channel and Disney+. The new movie is being written by Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn, based on characters by Paul Bernbaum, the writer of the original 1998 film. While plot details are not yet known, TheWrap reports that it has been 20 years since the fourth film in the franchise was released.

TheWrap notes that it remains unclear if previous cast members, such as Kimberly J. Brown or Sara Paxton, will return to lead the series. Houghton previously wrote the screenplay for the horror comedy Forbidden Fruits, while Koehn's credits include the Gossip Girl reboot, The Mad Whale, Homeschooled, and As Night Comes.
